MGP Strategies was founded by Dr. Maureen Phipps to help physician and health care leaders maximize their professional impact by developing strategies and solutions to complex organizational, leadership and professional challenges.

Working together one-on-one, engagements are tailored to meet the needs of the individual leader. Additional offerings include delivering leadership retreats, presenting seminars and facilitating strategic planning.

Maureen G. Phipps, MD, MPH

Maureen is an experienced executive, trusted advisor, motivated educator, inspiring speaker, accomplished researcher, grounded advocate, and valued coach.

Maureen’s executive experience as CEO of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) (2019-2023) included leading ACOG through unprecedented challenges globally and nationally. Maureen guided ACOG through the pandemic addressing complex clinical, administrative, operational, health systems and advocacy issues.  She also led a vital strategic visioning process, worked to confront social injustices and inequities in obstetrics and gynecology, and advocated nationally for members and the patients they care for.

Prior to leading ACOG, Maureen served as chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, assistant dean for Teaching and Research in Women’s Health and executive chief of women’s health for the Care New England Health System. During her 20-year tenure at Brown University, Women & Infants Hospital and in Rhode Island, Maureen led numerous education, policy, and NIH-funded research initiatives. She has mentored and advised trainees, physicians and healthcare leaders throughout her career and has been honored with accolades and awards.

Maureen’s experience serving on nonprofit boards and board committees includes guiding strategic visioning, organizational transformation, fundraising, financial stability, crisis management, talent management, and multi-organization diversity equity and inclusion initiatives.

Maureen’s goal is to have a positive impact on the people, organizations, and communities she works with. Specifically, she aspires to help physician leaders and healthcare executives be effective and have a positive impact that will lead to professional fulfilment and better health outcomes.
